UK Bid Writer ceased taking on new clients in February 2022 and new work from existing clients in July 2022

While UK Bid Writer as an entity remains closed, the brains and brawn behind the business is back in action!

On the heels of what any reasonable person could call ‘a trying few years’ – for me, for you, for the UK and for pretty much the entire world – I took a well-deserved break from bid writing, training and consultancy to establish my new life in Cumbria and let the dust settle.

Since closing the doors on UKBW in September 2022, I’ve divided my time between renovating a house, catching up with family, finding my way around my new world and making new friends and connections. I took on a couple of temporary jobs in between DIY projects and, since May 2023, I’ve been comfortably installed at a local office of one of the North’s most long-established yet fastest-growing accountancy firms, handling their admin and very much enjoying a five-minute walk to work.

But you can’t keep a good bid writer down, and so here I am again, saddling up that unicorn for the next adventure😁

I’m looking for a very specific type of blended, hands-on, high-level strategy and support role, where I can deploy all the skills I’ve developed over my decades of bid experience to help an existing or brand new bid team navigate the challenges that AI, a new government and the competitive green energy and sustainability markets will bring.

This is what I want:

  • Employed/minimum 24-month contract
  • 4 days per week
  • Remote
  • Occasionally in-office, North West England: e.g. Lancaster, Preston, Manchester, Liverpool, possibly Birmingham (I do miss Brum, can’t lie)
  • Occasional client visits, coaching/training etc.
  • Sustainability/green industries preferred
  • Either working directly for one business, ideally with multiple service offerings – or – for an established tender services firm, supporting a range of clients to meet their strategic bidding aims

This is what you get:

  • Highly experienced bid writer, manager, coordinator: a genuine all-rounder with a wealth of knowledge  
  • Practical, level-headed bid strategist: adept at planning, assessing and measuring short-, medium-, long-term and stretch goals
  • Bid process improvement and optimisation specialist: proficient at reviewing and redeveloping existing processes and embedding new systems to boost productivity and accuracy
  • Skilled bid content library creator: great at developing buildable and adaptable content to draw from and maintain a consistent ‘voice’ for the business
  • All of those indefinable scraps of wisdom, insight and weird hacks that only come from years of experience working on bids in every sector and industry, for micro, small and medium sized businesses as well as multinational corporations
